TAKE THE THRONE

Royal Flush Chess

ONE BOARD. BIG PLANS.

Your next move?

Challenge the computer or share a board with a friend. No clock. No sign-in.

Choose your match

Make your move.

Tap your piece, then a marked square. White moves first. Win by checkmate: the king is in check with no legal escape.

Dots show moves; rings show captures. A checked king has a red outline and a CHECK label. Corner marks show the last move.

Meet the pieces

These are movement rules. The marked squares also account for other pieces and keeping your king safe.

Special moves

Castling: select your king and move it two squares toward a rook. Neither piece can have moved, the path must be clear, and your king must be safe at the start, on the way and at the end.

En passant: immediately after an enemy pawn moves two squares beside yours, you can capture it diagonally as if it moved only one. The marked destination handles this.

Promotion: a pawn reaching the far end becomes your choice of queen, rook, bishop or knight. You can have more than one queen.

Draws & practice aids

Stalemate means the player to move has no legal moves and is not in check. It is a draw. Standard insufficient material also ends play.

Three identical positions or 50 moves per side without a pawn move or capture allow a claim. Claim draw also offers qualifying intended moves, without playing them. Five repetitions or 75 moves end play automatically; checkmate takes priority.

Hints suggest moves without playing them. In computer practice, Undo takes back your turn and its reply. In local play, Undo takes back one move; both players should agree. Hints and takebacks are counted, and are available until the game ends.

Keyboard & move review

Tab to the board, arrows to a square, Enter/Space to select or move, Escape to clear. Flip board changes your view.

Use the review arrows or choose a move in the history. Live board returns to your unfinished game; Final board returns to a completed result. Download PGN saves the moves as a chess game file.
